White Aura Meaning and Chakra Link

As we continue our investigation of aura colors, we get to one of the most rare ones out there: the white aura meaning. How can we interpret seeing white light, clouds, or sparkles in ourselves or others behind closed eyes during meditation or energy work like Reiki or acupuncture? Let’s investigate.

First, some background. My name is Lillie, and I’ve been a Reiki practitioner since 2018. The ideas in this article are based on hands-on experience with hundreds of clients, as well as extensive training and research.

What is a White Aura?

Below is a photo of me doing Reiki, upon which I have hand-painted what it looks like behind my closed eyes when a client has a white aura. Different people see auras differently, but for me, white often manifests as sparkles (unlike an orange aura, which usually doesn’t sparkle) over clouds of light, like this…

The White Chakra

To understand the meaning of a white aura, we must first go back to our chakra balancing knowledge to review which energy center of the body is associated with the color white. The answer is: white is connected with the 7th or Crown Chakra at the top of the head — the region connected with universal energy.

Now, please note that the 7th Chakra or Sahasrara is also sometimes seen as having a purple aura, which can be a tad confusing. To add a further layer of complexity, there are some chakra frameworks which depict the body as having more than seven energy centers…

In this “more-than-seven-chakras” system, white is also connected with the Soul Star Chakra: a beautiful energy center located ABOVE the body, that is essentially a magnified 7th Chakra in that it is deep into the most powerful elements of universal energy.

(See my article about the gold aura meaning for more on this lesser-known chakra.) Knowing this background, let’s now put the pieces together for full interpretation.

White Aura Meaning

Correlating with the fact that white is associated in the chakra system with universal energy, I find across the board that clients with white auras are extremely spiritual people — not necessarily in a religious way. Like people with a silver aura, they are connected with the heartbeat of the universe, and can often create and intuit elements that almost seem mystically channeled from above.

In my experience, this aura color is extremely rare — colors like a yellow aura are more common. As I tell my clients, white auras are very powerful, but you need to make sure to balance that “in the sky” energy with some “grounding” forces.

Things that work for adding some grounding forces to this celestial energy include walking outside, and intentionally connecting with everyday earthly things to avoid walking around with your head sort of in the clouds, and mind up in space, metaphorically. Of course, one of the benefits of Reiki is also that it helps bring balance and flow some of that otherworldly energy downward to nourish the other energy centers.

Disambiguation with Migraines

Now, a quick disclaimer: This article is about seeing white auras behind closed eyes in the context of energy work like Reiki — a positive and beautiful thing. It is not about seeing sparkles with eyes open, which is often a difficult side effect of migraines. The two are very different, and should not be confused!
