Purple Aura Meaning: the 6th and 7th Chakras

What is the purple aura meaning? In other words, what does it signify if a person has a purple field of light around them, as seen during energy work like Reiki, acupuncture, meditation, or other methods to observe aura colors? Read on to find out

First, some background: My name is Lillie, and I’ve been a Reiki Master since 2017, specializing in being able to see each person’s unique aura colors. I’ve worked with hundreds of clients over the years, and I discuss each person’s colors with them as a way to analyze where they are now in life, and strategize positive ways to move forward. Everything in this article (and all my articles, for that matter) is from first-hand, real life experience.

Purple Chakra Confusion

As we learned in my article about the blue aura meaning, each color is associated with a different chakra energy center in the body. So, which is the purple chakra? The answer is a bit more complicated than for other aura colors — there are TWO possible answers.

Unlike a green aura, which is clearly associated with the green chakra located at the heart, a purple aura may be connected with either the 6th or 7th Chakras. Here’s why.

The 6th or Third Eye Chakra is located between the eyes at the forehead (see my hand placement in the Reiki photo above) and is associated with intuition — seeing what’s under the surface in any given situation. The color affiliated with the 6th Chakra is either purple or “indigo” (a blueish purple).

The 7th or Crown Chakra is found at the top of the head, and is the realm of universal energy: that higher power that is bigger than us all. The color this 7th Chakra is associated with is either purple or white. (See my upcoming article about a white chakra meaning soon.)

Purple Aura Meaning

Given this, we can interpret people with a purple aura as having a strong sense of intuition (knowing things that aren’t explicitly said), and also a powerful connection to the broader universal energy around us. Though the concept of auras isn’t religiously affiliated, people with purple auras usually have a spiritual sensibility to them — a magical or mystical quality.

A client and I have a joke that there is a set of “Purple People” (those of us with purple auras) who are highly attuned with the flow of the universe. This allows for the achievement of amazing, almost otherworldly things.

The biggest challenge for people with purple auras is feeling disconnected from those around you, who do not understand the intuitive and cosmic insights they naturally have. While that can feel frustrating, using patience, meditation, and connecting with other like-minded people can help immensely.

Seeing Purple in Meditation or Reiki

From my years as a hands-on Reiki practitioner, I’ve noticed a clear pattern: the moment a person starts seeing purple during Reiki, meditation, acupuncture, or other bodywork is the moment energetic healing and positive chakra integration begins. As I explained in my popular article about seeing colors while meditating, a purple and greenish-gold-yellow combination of light behind the eyelids is a beautiful sign of your brain and body moving in a good direction.
