How can energy work and Reiki help with relationship healing, transitions, and realizations for healthy steps forward in your connection with another person? The answer may not be what you think.
Hello! My name is Lillie and I’m a Boston Reiki practitioner and teacher who has done hands-on energy and chakra balancing with hundreds of clients since 2018. All of the analyses in this article are from first-hand experience by a real human!
Relationship Healing by Reiki

Reiki consists of gentle hand placements to help energy flow, and there are many benefits of Reiki, including helping improve relationships. Let’s explore the many ways this can be done, as it can take numerous forms.
1. Connecting on a true body and soul level, as humans.
Both individual Reiki sessions and couples Reiki sessions can help you “drop into your body” and get out of your head so that you’re able to truly connect with the other person on a fundamental human soul level. I’ve seen this happen over and over: When people have energy flowing well, they can often move past surface-level arguments and squabbles to find deep love with one another again!
2. Relationship healing by identifying what new nourishment is needed.
Often, however, it takes more than a Reiki session in itself to heal a relationship that’s going through a troubled time. The next step, therefore, is to see energy work as a way to get into a meditative state in order to tap into chakra balancing and identify what action steps can better nourish the relationship.
For example, if the Reiki practitioner identifies that there is a block in the Sacral or Second Chakra (associated with an orange aura), that suggests that the areas of sensuality and/or creativity could use more nourishment. Action steps from this realization could include reading, workshops, study, extra time and attention, or practice in these areas.
3. Deciding if you want to stay in the relationship.
Finally (and I say this as someone who experience the healing power of this in a big way, myself), sometimes the healing a relationship needs is to realize that it should be transitioned into a different form — which may well be a separation. Naturally, there is a great deal of grief that may come from this realization, even if that path forward is for the best, and energy work is key in helping process that grief release.
Understanding and Healing Relationships by Energy Work, in Sum
I hope this exploration of relationship healing and insights through Reiki has been helpful. Keep in mind that when working with something as complex as human relationships, Reiki therapy is ideally paired with other modes of support such as couples therapy (often mostly covered by insurance!), strong friend and support networks, and healthy self care.
